From 19th-Century Palace to Award-Winning Workspace: Celebrating Success in Budapest

We're delighted to share some exciting news. One of our most recent projects has been recognised at the Hungarian Office of the Year Awards, with Marshmallow's Budapest office receiving a Special Commendation.

The project also earned the honour of featuring on the cover of Octogon, Hungary's leading design and architecture magazine.

The Budapest office is housed in a stunning 19th-century building, Wagner Palace - a space full of history, character, and architectural significance. Our challenge was to honour that heritage while transforming the space into a truly world-class modern workplace, one capable of supporting Marshmallow's continued growth and the way their people actually work today.

Working closely with the Marshmallow team, we delivered a comprehensive programme of improvements including:

• Leasing advisory to ensure appropriate terms, sufficient landlord contributions and delivery of all landlord works as committed

• Intelligent space planning to increase desk capacity without compromising the quality of the environment

• Enhanced acoustic performance to support focused work and reduce the noise challenges that often come with open-plan, high-ceilinged spaces

• Revitalised social and breakout areas to foster collaboration and give people places to recharge

• Transformed communal and dining zones, converting previously underused areas into vibrant, functional spaces the whole team can enjoy

  
  

The result is a workplace that feels as special as the building it calls home.

A Partnership Built on Trust

This project carries particular meaning for us. Our relationship with Marshmallow dates back to 2005, when founder Freddie went to school with their two founders - a friendship that's never wavered.

In 2021, Marshmallow asked Dragonfly to PM the fit-out of their London office with one instruction: "don't mess it up!"

Four years on, that trust remains intact.

Being invited to take our partnership to Budapest - while continuing to support their London base - is something we're genuinely proud of. It's proof that great working relationships don't end at practical completion. They evolve, deepen, and sometimes take you somewhere unexpected. Quite literally, in this case.

What This Means to Us

Awards matter, but what really resonates is the work behind them. When a great client, a remarkable building, and a shared ambition align, the results can be something truly special. This project is proof of that.
